xTool laser settings
Free starting power, speed and pass settings for every current xTool laser and more than 30 materials, plus Creative Space setup and troubleshooting guides. No account needed.
Machines covered
Settings are given per laser module, because a 10 W and a 40 W diode on the same frame need very different numbers.
| Machine | Laser options | Type |
|---|---|---|
| D1 | 5 W, 10 W | Diode |
| D1 Pro | 5 W, 10 W, 20 W, 40 W | Diode |
| S1 | 10 W, 20 W, 40 W | Diode (enclosed) |
| M1 | 5 W, 10 W | Diode |
| M1 Ultra | 10 W, 20 W | Diode |
| F1 | 10 W blue diode, 2 W infrared | Galvo |
| F1 Ultra | 20 W blue diode, 20 W fiber | Galvo |
| F2 | 15 W blue diode, 5 W infrared | Galvo |
| F2 Ultra | 40 W blue diode, 60 W MOPA fiber | Galvo |
| F2 Ultra UV | 5 W UV (355 nm) | Galvo |
| P2 / P2S | 55 W | CO₂ |
| P3 | 80 W | CO₂ |
Materials
The settings cover the materials makers use most, grouped the same way as in the app:
- Wood: basswood plywood and birch plywood in several thicknesses, MDF, hardwoods such as walnut, cherry and maple, pine and other softwoods, bamboo, cork sheet.
- Acrylic and plastics: cast acrylic (black and opaque, clear and translucent), two-colour engraving laminate.
- Leather and fabric: veg-tan leather, PU faux leather, felt, cotton and denim.
- Paper and card: cardstock, copy and kraft paper, corrugated cardboard.
- Stone, glass and ceramic: slate, marble and granite, glazed ceramic tile, glass, and K9 crystal for 3D inner engraving on the UV laser.
- Metal: anodized aluminium, powder-coated and painted metal (tumblers), bare stainless steel, brass and copper, gold and silver jewellery.
- Foam and rubber: EVA foam, laser rubber for stamps.
Not every laser can work every material. A blue diode can’t cut clear acrylic, because the light passes straight through it, and bare metal marks best with the fiber, MOPA and infrared modules. The app shows which combinations make sense for the laser you choose.
Where the numbers come from
The values are starting points compiled from xTool’s published examples and community-tested charts, scaled for each module’s power. They are meant to get your first test close, not to replace it. Every batch of material is different, so run a test card on scrap before a real job.
How to use them: open the settings for your machine and material, then make a test card with that value in the middle of the grid. Export the SVG with colours by layer and assign each colour its power and speed in xTool Creative Space. The best cell on the finished card is your setting.
Creative Space setup and troubleshooting
The xTool settings studio also includes setup notes for xTool Creative Space and troubleshooting guides for the problems people run into most: not cutting through, heavy charring or flames, engraving that is too dark or burnt, and wavy or doubled lines, as well as safety guidance. It is free and doesn’t need an account.
Files for xTool machines
Every studio in Laser Generator Studio has an xTool Creative Space export preset: one SVG with every piece in a grid, plus one file per layer, with each operation in its own colour. Popular projects on xTool machines include finger-jointed boxes, layered street maps, tumbler wraps for the rotary and photo engravings.
