What it makes
The Signs & Keychains studio turns a name or a few words into a laser-ready piece. You type the text, pick a font, and the studio draws real outline lettering with a backing behind it, so the result is a single, solid part rather than a pile of loose letters. It is the quickest route to personalised keychains, door signs, wedding names, desk plaques and bag tags.
Text and fonts
Line 1 is the main text; line 2 is optional and smaller, for a date, a title or a second name. Script fonts weld their letters together automatically. Curve line 1 to arch the text for badges, round plaques and ornaments.
Backing shapes
- Follow the letters: a smooth outline around the word, the classic cut-out name look.
- Rounded rectangle, rectangle or oval: a plaque behind the text.
Layers
| Layers | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 | Text engraved, outlined or cut out of a single piece. Stencil bridges keep the centres of O, A and B attached. |
| 2 or 3 | Letters glued on top of the backing, each layer cut from a contrasting material for depth |
Contrasting materials make layered signs pop: white acrylic letters on walnut, mirror acrylic on black, or painted MDF. See the acrylic and wood guides for cutting tips.
Holes and mounting
Add a keychain ring, or two hanging holes for a wall sign. For a sign that stands on a shelf, the studio can add stand slots.
Keychain starting point: 3 mm acrylic or plywood, letter height 12 to 18 mm, backing offset 3 to 4 mm. Thinner backings snap at the ring.
Orders with many names
Personalised products usually come in batches: a bridal party, a classroom, a team. Type the list of names under Batch production and the studio makes one per name, nested onto shared sheets so you can cut the whole order in one go (Pro plan). Price the order per piece in the price calculator, which shows quantity breaks for 1, 5, 10 and 25.

Questions
What size should a keychain be?
In 3 mm acrylic or plywood, a letter height of 12 to 18 mm with a backing offset of 3 to 4 mm gives a sturdy keychain that still reads clearly.
Why do script fonts join up?
Script fonts such as Pacifico are designed to connect. The studio welds the overlapping letters into one shape so the word cuts out as a single piece instead of loose letters.
What are stencil bridges?
When text is cut out of a sheet, the middles of letters like O, A and B would drop out. Bridges are small connections that keep them attached.
Can I make a batch of names for an order?
Yes. Type a list of names under Batch production and the studio makes one sign per name, nested onto shared sheets. Batch production is part of the Pro plan.
Can the text curve?
Yes. Curve line 1 arches the text for badges and plaques; negative values curve it downward.
