Match the idea to your laser
Most ideas here work on any laser that cuts and engraves wood. A few depend on the type of laser you own:
- Clear or translucent acrylic (suncatchers, edge-lit signs) needs a CO₂ laser; a blue diode’s light passes straight through. See the acrylic guide.
- Glass engraves directly on a CO₂ laser; a diode needs a coating first. See the glass guide.
- Bare stainless steel needs a fiber laser, or a marking spray on diode and CO₂. See the stainless steel guide.
- Anodized aluminum and slate mark well on almost any laser, which makes them good first materials beyond wood.
Turning an idea into something you can sell
